About the course

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, as part of a team or leading a deliverable with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

  • Cyber security: protecting sensitive data and information through security architecture and developing disaster recovery and contingency plans
  • Database and data management: creating, designing and monitoring systems that store data and optimise organisational knowledge management

Work Placement

No mandatory work placement for this course.

RPL & Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where skills and knowledge gained through work and life experience and other unrecognised training can be formally recognised. To apply for RPL, complete and return an RPL Application Form. Your application will be assessed for suitability and you will then be contacted by an assessor to progress the process. This usually involves gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and experience, responding to questions, completing tasks and, where relevant, observation of your work skills. RPL fees:

  • $500 application fee upon submitting the RPL Application Form
  • $400 per unit of competency applied for

  Credit Transfer: Students may be eligible for credit transfer for relevant units studied at an Australian Registered Training Organisation. Credits may lead to a reduction in course fees, and the outcome of your application will be advised in writing.
